Campfire party

Last Monday we had our annual campfire party held in the water meadows. Campfire was fuelled by a huge fallen dead chestnut tree with much more left for next years event.
Over 70 people came with their food to go on the barbecue…chairs drink and plates. The children love the relaxed atmosphere where they can run about and get into no harm, loving the small stream across the middle and fallen trees played on as ships. Not an electric gadget in sight!!!
Just like the old days when I used to play there with local friends.

Just taken Jim’s lunch down to the Crabtree field wher he is combining. Won’t stop the combine as rain is due today.harvest going well with a good yield. Now to pick raspberries…..Autumn Bliss….. A month early but taste just as good. Guests due today so will put some in the cabin for breakfast tomorrow.

Visit the old market town of Thame it is only a few miles from the beautiful accommodation we have here at Town Farm Cottage

Midsomer Murders

Saw inspector Barnaby last night in Sydenham making a call in a phone box I have never seen before by the cross roads. The cross roads are one mile from our accommodation in Kingston Blount.

Sadly last night the fox got into our chicken pen and killed all of our 12 hens. How he got in and out is a mystery and of course he only took one away to eat and left the remaining 11 headless. So fresh new laid eggs from our hens are off the menu for a while but luckily our neighbour can supply us with fresh eggs.

Lakeside Town Farm is in the centre of Midsomer Murder country. We are surrounded by small rural picturesque villages with the perfect setting for murder after murder! Bledlow Watlington, Thame, Shirburn Castle, Wallingford, Princes Risborough, Aston Rowant, Chinnor, Ewelme, Swyncombe, Stokenchurch, and our own village Kingston Blount are a few of the many places used for the film set of Midsomer Murders. This week the film crew are in Thame……. film name “Causton”. Thame is a major location where the local High Street, pubs and cattle market are regularly used to set the “olde worldy” scene perfect for many episodes.
Lakeside Town Farms special accommodation is often used by the crew but still waiting for Inspector Barnaby to arrive!
A new episode is being filmed in and around Sydenham mainly at the Crown our local pub/restaurant only 2 miles from our accommodation here at Lakeside Town Farm.
